Make a Great Day!

Instead of saying “Have a great day!” what if you say, at least to yourself, “Make a great day!” A slight change in verbs, but what a difference can it make! If the former is passive, the latter calls for actions. If one is wishing, the other is empowering. If first is hoping, the second is making it happen. If one is a reaction, the other is action.

Action is what makes things move. Yes, occasionally, you feel energized, strong, confident, or may even stumble upon a stroke of luck and feel like you “have had” a great day. But what if you take it under your own control? I bet you will experience this “luck” more often.

Here are a few things that may help:

  • Do your homework. This is about preparation and thinking ahead. If you plan your day the day before, there is a much larger chance that you wouldn’t be drifted into the day but will control it.
  • Start earlier. You will be amazed at how much you can do before most of the people have breakfast.
  • Don’t delay difficult tasks and projects. The earlier you jump on them, the more likely you finish them. Filling the time with non-essential tasks in a morning will not move the needle for you. You will feel more accomplished if you complete just one important task, rather than a few unimportant ones.
  • Find time for some fun. Even if you love what are you doing for money, you may get burned-out if this is what you do all day.

Most of us already have everything that it takes to make any day a great day. So, let’s be grateful for what we have. Smile, and Make a Great Day today!
